Youths caught with knives are fined and back on street

  1. One could argue of course that the police failed to provide the evidence in court to alow the magistrate to give any more robust sentence under the sentencing guidelines.

    Once again though this is but a very small number of cases in London, was this the only cases of knife carrying over their test period, or just the ones that fitted their editorial plicy. If this was the only cases across London over say a day, then I would suggest the police are not doing their part and the reality is if you carry a knife then you are not going to be caught, where is the deterrant in that. Considering the claimed prevalence of knife carrying the courts should be full of people charge with carrying.
