Welcome to the Navy Net aka Rum Ration

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial RN website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. My son who is applying for the submarine service has recently had his medical with capita. A heart murmur was detected and we needed a echocardiogram and an ECG. The results of this was perfectly normal apart from an innocent heart murmur. We have had a paper review and after my son contacted his afco they informed him that it has been passed on for further investigation and we will hear in 4-6 weeks. Is this normal? Has anyone encounted a similar experience with a heart murmur? My son who is 16 has always had excellent health and only ever been to the doctors once in his life. Any comments would be greatly be appreciated.
  2. Exactly the same situation as your son. Capita told me all murmurs get referred on so don't panic this is routine

  3. Would an innocent heart murmur bar my son for the submarine service?
