World gone mad?

I have just been watching This Morning with Phil and Fern, yes I am that trashy, and they were telling numerous stories about what a PC bull world we live in.
Example -Government wants children to be stopped from making Mothers' day cards because "it may offend children without a mother"

Another- A five year old boy went to the toilet, couldn't pull his trousers back up and none of the teachers would help him for fear they may be sued! The poor chap had to spend 3 hours with his pants around his ankles until his mum arrived!!

Minor peeves and I may be turning into my dad at only 21, but back in my day there was none of this fluffing about!

Grrrrrr

Bet you never collected Robertson's Gollys.
Could be strung up for saying it, never mind having a drawer full of them.
I collected them and there was no racist intent in those days, except for the do-gooders.
How come its still ok to say "White as a Ghost !!"

I had a Golly. It was given to me by my grandpa and I don't think that he was trying to incite racial hatred, although I could be mistaken.
Ricky Gervais captured the tone perfectly with his Extras episode about the Golly. I think they are rather cute, that said I don’t think I would keep mine on top of the fire- besides it would only clash with my swastika poster and white hood.

I bet yer Grandpa was also a fan of Al Jolson and The Black and White Minstrel Show.
I was.

I really despise political correctness. I always thought that it was one of life's universally accepted facts that one cannot please everybody. I don't advocate rudeness, but I do feel that some of these minorities should develop the British stiff upper lip and take it on the chin. I have no confidence in any leader who will walk on eggshells so as not to offend anybody.

My daughter lives in deepest rural Somerset, did all of her courses to become a childminder, running from her home address.

Before She could open for business along comes the local SS for an inspection. Everythings fine but apparantly She didn't have any ethnic dolls. She explained that there weren't any ethnic kids in the area. She had to go and buy some black dolls before She got approval to open.

IMHO, and no doubt stating the obvious, all this PC garbage developed with the introduction of multi-culturalism. It appears once the mixture of cultures reached a certain level the natural progression was for the different ways of life to compete. Instead of resisting the take over many of the more passive cultures rolled over and are now paying the price. It seems no matter what is said or done it is racist, if it doesn't fit in with the ' other ' culture. Multi-culturalism and affirmativa action have just about stuffed up this world and nout can be done to stop it I reckon, just make the best of coz it's here to stay.

What makes me laugh is that for every pathetic PC policy that comes out there is a group of do-gooders (usually white, middle class, housewifes/husbands) who get really het up about it and raise it even though it probably doesn't affect them. For example, this mothers day cards thing, there was probably one dcikhead (who still has there own parents) who started it then a few others jumped on the bandwagon and before you know it it's a major issue! Most of us normal people couldn't care less as we have more important things to think about, like how long till opening!

OK, I accept tabloid TV isn't big on critical analysis, or letting the facts get in the way of a reliable segment of filler, but isn't there a big difference between government and in many cases individual school/ hospital/ nursery etc.

fwiw I also dislike the use of political correctness as an argument because it indicates intellectual laziness (although I appreciate this is QD and you're talking about daytime TV).

I shouldn't worry about it kings. At the rate things are going we'll have changed everything in order to pander to everyone else and there won't be anything left to change.

At that point the white middle classes will probably be the minority and we can fully expect those who are currently benefiting so much from these changes to look favourably upon us and change things back for our benefit ... I think :???: :???: :???:

The thing that really gets me about this is that they always target children when putting their message across. An old soviet ploy to avoid any intelligent debate about a subject - brainwash the kids and sideline the adults and you will eventually have your socialist utopia - My god we are suppoosed to live in a democracy!!
