My 27 years of service allow and equip me to offer boring generic replies to gobby sprogs and wannabes.
Quick question... why don't Navy personnel ( CPO's? ) like being called chief? I'd much rather be a chief than a sir ! Though in all honesty above all I would rather be a Cowboy.

Chief's do like being called Chief, WO2's don't like being called Chief.

Why are you making that assumption due to one post?

I remember reading a few comments on here about being called chief, will try dig them up later though probably misinterpreted them.

If you call a MAA Chief they tend to get a bit sniffly and mention they don't like being called it, try it if/when you get in
There was a foomale one on HMS Liverpool, that had a bit of a sense of humour failure about it, if IIRC it was the 5th "morning chief" that she lost it on. Sometimes it's just fun to play the duty bone Bootneck.
