Welcome to the Navy Net aka Rum Ration

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial RN website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. When I went through training in the mid 80's the following was drummed into us

    1. Its not like this in the field
    2. Things are a lot better out the Field
    3. You can forget everything you learnt here, you will learn new skills in the field.
    4. It's bloody brilliant out in the field!!

That's because you're a pinky faggot and have spent your entire career looking out of the window at everyone else working "in the field" :thumright:
  3. I get it now "The field" is the view from any crewroom window

    cheers Cheif
  4. never looked out of the crewroom window/ spoils the concentration when playing bridge with the pinkeys :angel4: :thumright:
  5. now their surfing for porn up in the ACR, alright i'm down in the shag shack doing the same
  6. Pinkies
Wonderful trade sadly seems to have gone and been replaced by a combined trade.
So no more early chops, make and mends and time in the crew room.

It's good to be out in the civilian field
  7. Multiskilled me to Greenie and then stuck me in a Bombheads billet for my last few months. Still can't find this wonderfull "field" though!!!!!!!!!
  8. Many years ago when we had more fixed wing aircraft the powers that be decided to amalgamate the Bombheads and Greenies. So loads of dosh spent on cross training which after saw all the ex bombheads filling bombhead billets and ex greenies filling greenies billets.
However the ex greenies were seen off as now ex bombheads were on the same rosta's for promotion. Anyone who served from the 60s to the 80s know just how tightly knit as a group bombheads were, so most of the B13 issued for promotion seemed to be ex armourers.
I have no axe to grind cos I was a :thumright: pinkie
