  1. hi all im sitting my rt tests this week which i should get a high score in im applying to join as a et(me) hopefully everything will go ok but i have been wondering how long will it be before i can expect to be going to raleigh? currently im out of work and would like to get there asap. any help i and advice i get is appreciated thanks.
  2. It all depends on what you are going in as and how desperate they are form them.

I did my tests in may and start raleigh in september. Others though have been waiting for over a year I believe.

The waiting time for ET(ME) is roughly 10 months so you could expect to be starting Basic around May of next year.

Have a quick browse through the Rum Ration RT Advice thread too - pay special attention to the first post in the thread, Ninja's. Linky here:

    Good Luck!
  4. Just a quick question for Soeil,

I passed my RT on 7th July, they told me that i would hopefully be at Raleigh by december but i have noticed that at the moment there isn't anyone starting in december. Are there any groups starting basic around then?

I don't know if it makes a difference but i have my medical on wednesday and got WA2 on my eye test. My chosen branch is CIS(SM).

Sorry if this seems abit frivolous but i really want to get in the RN, i just wish i could find out as soon as possible.

Also good luck mackem, i hope Raleigh goes well for you.

Mark33 - Good luck with your RT, as long as you prepare you should be ok, once it starts it isn't as bad as you expect :)

  5. I have just been accepeted for CIS (SM) - and I start Raleigh 22nd November. As far as I am aware this is a shortage category so a start date this year is a very real possibility. Please dont quote me on this - just basing it on my own questions and the answers I received!

Good luck! Maybe I'll see you down there.

    CIS(SM) is a shortage branch.

It is very likely that you will be starting Basic some time in the second half of November, if everything goes smoothly.
  7. Thanks, Soleil. It's just i have never wanted to do anything as much as i want to join the RN so i can not wait and am nervous/exited :)

Thanks, David. Yeah i hopw to see you down there. I would love to be there in November. If i get a joining date i will post it up.
  8. Sorry to be stupid but what does CIS stand for?

Also good luck on the RT.
  9. It's not stupid, i don't know the short names for alot of jobs, it stands for Communications and Information Systems Specialist.
  10. thanks for that may doesn,t seem too bad however if i was able to go earlier all the better is there no way of getting earlier dates maybe by choosing different trades. my reasons for choosing et(me) was because i already a qualified plumber and also just below degree level in mechanical engineering so thought that would be the best options for me (33yrs old by the way).

Aha, but now you know what it stands for, we've changed the name to keep you on your toes.

It's currently called .pdf] Warfare Branch Communicator according to the RN website.
  12. I have my RNAC in October but still have no joining date - I started the joining process in February this year.... I'm guessing there's load of people signing up as ET(ME).
  13. Ackers

When did you sit the RT?
  14. I did the Psychometric test on the 26th March - then the final test (fitness test) on the 18th June
  15. As the waiting time for ET(ME) is roughly 10 months, you should be starting Basic in the Spring Term, perhaps February.

You should get confirmation of this around September/October.
  16. Cheers Soleil.... just curious - how do you know so much? I've read a few of your replies.
  17. I have access to various useful sources of information.
  18. sorry if this sounds like im a little dumb but what does rnac stand for?
  19. ooh ooh I know this one!

    Royal Navy Acquaint Course
  20. i also thought about et(me) on submarines would the join up time for that be sooner and is there benefits to being above or below water?
