What is to happen to all FAA personnel?

Welcome to the Navy Net aka Rum Ration

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial RN website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Now that the harriers and aircraft carriers are to be scrapped by HMG what is to happen to all Fleet Air Arm personnel?

Will some officers & ratings be made redundant, or transfered into other branches of the RN RAF or the Army Air Corps?

  2. From what I have heard a large chunck of JFH will be shared amongst VL & CU.

Some going to Sultan, and a handfull transfering to specialist STC duties.

  3. More likely to the dole queue. The Iindian and Chinese navies are growing exponentially their skills could be needed there.

Many thanks JFH. I wonder how many FAA personnel many could end up in Afganistan. I was recently informed that instead of cuts to all branches of the the armed forces by HMG, many RAF & RN personnel could be formed into a joint regiment to serve in Afganistan to 2015. Anyone else heard this, or is it just another mess deck buzz?

  15. Nothing like a good mess deck 'buzz'.

Indeed, compulsory in times of woe!!!!!!

No reason why it shouldn't happen, it has before, an excellent way to fill the front line gaps!
