What is the current status on recruitment

Hi all, sorry if it’s been asked recently but I haven’t seen one.
I’m just curious on if anyone knows the current status on recruitment - i’m waiting an email after i’ve applied online for my second time after 2 years (my medical failed, but after speaking to my GP i’m now eligible, and i did well on psychometric). It’s been about 2 weeks and no email or text, just wondering if i’ve been denied for some reason or they aren’t operating right now. cheers all

There’s a global pandemic on the go at the moment, you may have read something about it? Even calling a multi national helpline takes hours. The MOD is smaller than them!

Various government initiatives, surge support to the NHS, potential mobilisation of the Armed Forces for MACA. Lots of plates spinning.

The Armed Forces, although exempt from most legislation still have to comply with HMG direction on non essential work and distance based working. Which as you can imagine for secure IT systems and various process that require face to face comms, is proving challenging. The AFCO are still working, although working from home in most cases.

Things will take longer than before. Have a look around at various other posts on delays. They’ll get around to you. If you want something to keep you occupied in the meantime, sign up to the current NHS initiative in your community.

Or give your local AFCO a call, I’m sure the phones have been diverted.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for your reply. Funny you mentioned the NHS, I applied just last night and do regular shopping runs for my village shop to locals. I was just unsure on whether it was classified as essential or not, thanks for your rely

I am in the process of re joining, I started my application last August.
Had a few issues with Capita and medical records and old service records, you will find out how annoying capita are very soon

Literally about to get my medical docs reviewed and just sent my security clearance docs off as the pandemic started.
I have been advised that my SC could take any time as they are running on very very minimal staff.
Also told the medical side is exactly the same.
My Afco have basically said keep up the fitness and have patience and wait.

You have to appreciate the current situation the world is dealing with, recruitment will now be a even slower than normal process, if you are 100% focused and dedicated to joining the Andrew you will be more than happy to ride this out.

Good luck in your recruitment process, keep us updated, and I will too... You never know we may end up in the same entry class

I just stumbled on this post;

Depending on which AFCO you fall under, there may or may not be a lot of other people applying at the same time. My local AFCO is fairly quiet at the moment and I've been in regular contact with the staff there, all of whom have been extremely diligent and helpful.

I started my application when the COVID-19 pandemic was gaining proper momentum around mid-March time and have just returned my medical form minus the eye test voucher as I was advised by my AFCO that eye tests obviously can't be arranged yet, but Capita can essentially investigate your medical records and take it from there - I've never had a good experience with Capita and I doubt this time will be any different. With regards to my current situation; I last applied about 10 years ago and got quite far down the recruitment process, however I wasn't either in the right frame of mind to join or actually had anything tangible to offer in the way of skills or life experience. I've now found something that I love doing and have applied for the respective branch.

Like Oldest_Nozzer has been advised, it's basically just a case of keeping up the daily fitness regime / slog and monitoring the current affairs section / news outlets about the RN's current movements until something happens - I've been told that my ACLO will be in contact "soon" to take my application forward, but it's basically a case of keep calm and carry on. Being stuck inside at the moment is pretty handy for brushing up on fleet knowledge and practicing psychometric tests so there are definitely things to keep yourself occupied with!

What branch have you applied for?
And if you don't mind me asking how old are you?

I passed out of raleigh originally in 2002...and now hopefully going back to basic training 18 years on

Well you have several advantages over the others.
You already know which iron to take :)
Already know just how far it is to double around the parade ground. :(
Already know which bars to go to in Guzz :)
However there is a distinct possability of you being selected as class leader. :(

Good luck and enjoy it for the second time around (ifthat is possible

You know you are absolutely bang on.
No doubt I will be doubling around the parade ground shouting I am not a drill instructor again...

Yeah I have a feeling I will get selected class leader.. Not sure how I feel about that though.

Is it bad I've still get my original folding board and the same tin of boot polish 18 years on

I've applied for HMO and want to specialise in Hydrography when the time comes - I've been given conflicting accounts of what actually happens during the training process so the research is still ongoing!

I'm also 29.

I love this, you’re actually going back for seconds, you do need to keep us posted on the process, what ships/boats were you drafted too and if you don’t mind me asking why did you leave?
