What colour can a drill insturctors pace stick be?

Hi All
I was presented with a pace stick about 8 years before I left the mob, its a light brown colour and gets used for the odd parade when I march as a veteran however, a friend of mine is becoming a DI in the SCC and I have said he may as well have permanent loan of my pace stick once he qualifies, as I now carry a sword as a wavy navy SCC orifice. Is it laid down anywhere what colour the pace stick has to be, I have had a quick trawl of the SCC regs and can find nothing about the colour, can anyone help in guidance towards an answer please? I will keep googling in the meantime!

Barney, if you are also on ARRSE, this was covered in some depth fairly recently.

I believe the consensus of opinion was that anything goes.

When I did my 2's course in 1972, Most of the GI's had Black pace sticks, I'm not saying this is the norm, or just a phase they were going through at the time.

Guns69, strange that! I must have missed the issue and they didn't do mis-musters. My pace stick, which I only used once, was stained with Light Oak stain and varnished by my friendly chippies in Vernon.
Nothing wrong with Missilemen, but like most changes in the Gunnery titles, I was always called "G.I." Now the same can be said for the latest reincarnation called the AWW. Believe it or not they are still called......... yes you guessed it..... G.I.

Onions, all of these new names for everyone has gone straight over my head, I was really Not impressed when down south in 82, I was asked what the letters on my badge stood for. I should really learn the new lingo, but at my age, I don't really give a crap anymore, I just go with the flow and enjoy the banter on here.

BR 1834 refers. Section 2, The Pace Stick and The Cane.

"...The RN Pace-Stick should be of Rosewood colour, the only exception is the State Ceremonial Training Officer's (SCTO) pace stick which is to be black".

Further down the same para "...Officers with Parade and Ceremonial Training
responsibilities do not carry a Pace Stick on Parade but are to carry instead, a small
black cane fitted with brass ends".

We made one once for a LS(M) messmate, who got promoted to PO(M). As we already had a CPO(M) and a PO(M) there weren't enough pace sticks to go around. We 'adapted' a broom handle with brass end plates and varnish. He was pleased as Punch and carried it everywhere.
Type 23s. Mixed messing. A great idea.

Been doing that on boats since 1901 (year, not the time) ;)
