DC is going to need to think this through so that it can't be unpicked, for instance by an Act of Parliament that reorganises the way the NHS is run in England so that it is only answerable to English MPs; and likewise for other institutions. You see, five years down range from now DC will be seen as resonsible for the mess the UK is then in, even though this mess was made by Labour, and he will be out again, and Labour will need its Scotch MPs to repair any damage the pusillanimous DC has accidentally done to Socialism. Still, nice to see DC actually has a policy on something, nice change.
  4. The current major stumbling block is that Scotland has a separate legal system. For this Wales would have to have its own Parliament or what ever and legal system if it is to work. All current legislation including the Uni question applies to England and Wales

The Wail seems to have conveniently forgotten Wales and its Jouno's are Uni educated tut tut.

    15 All

  5. Haven't we been saying this on this forum for yonks and without having the benefit of an Eton education? Odd how the Cameroon hasn't been shouting for a general election recently and with a name like that he must have the good fortune to be of Scottish decent.
  6. "The proposals may still leave the Conservative leader open to charges that he is creating two classes of MPs at Westminster"

That's already happened thanks to the liarbour party. All MPs are equal but some MPs (Scottish) are more equal than others (English).

Roll on Scottish independance, then watch the Liarbour party effectively disappear from England.
  7. Any Scot with even half a brain cell would not wish for Independence we have seen the effects of Nationalism in other European countries and it wasn’t a pretty sight. We should all be striving the keep the union together, not wishing to see it broken up. That Salmond and his rabble are nothing more than power seekers motivated by self interest.

  8. Because all that lovely ENGLISH money that props up your failed welfare dependent sate would stop…
  9. Did you complain when the Scottish, Welsh & Northern Ireland NHS & other Scots, Welsh and Irish institutions were run, under the last Conservative administration, by the English majority of MPs? :bounce:
  10. It must be a hell of a struggle for some of you English folks to get out of your swivel chair with your glass of malt whilst carrying that huge chip on your shoulders. :) As for this incessant drivel that England supports Scotland financially, get real.

Of course you do realise that if it were to happen then England would be destined to be ruled by the Torys forever, you would have my sympathy, well maybe not. :)

But on the face of it is this not a good idea? Scots vote for scottish (no racism intended) things. Welsh vote for welsh things, English vote for English things, everyone votes for UK things.

At the start of each Parliamentary "term" the first couple of weeks are spent on "Local" issues so the dear MP's can stay in their second homes a bit longer and chinwag with their constituents about what they want and get a vague idea on how to vote on issues without central guidance.
  12. That's a very good idea, Blobs, but what do you do with the MSPs and AMs. Now they have their snouts in the public trough, they ain't going to lift them out in a hurry!

No need to do anything with them. They'd stay in place to deal with matters purely Scottish or welsh as they do now. If they are elected to one of the regional parliaments they get a seat in the big house. Just got to be careful the "regions" (England included) dont start inventing more seats for parliament so they have a larger hand in the big house.
  14. To be quite honest, I'd do away with Holyrood and the Welsh Assembly, and have the mostly redundant MPs for the Welsh and Scottish constituencies working on their own business for a couple of days a week while the English get on with theirs, and then them all joining up to work on UK business.
If they can have so many holidays and work "family friendly" hours, there's plenty of time for this.

Let's face it, most decisions are made by the European Unelected Commissioners anyway.

  15. Well said that man! - I cant for the life of me see any advantage in independence. I have my own rule on Political Parties Which is -

Never vote for a party with with the words "Nationalist" and/or "Socialist" in their title.
  16. On the face of things young david hasn't really thought this one through, he really needs to set up an English parliament to solve the problem properly, but that is probably a step to far for an arch unionist. The result will be even more chaos and legal revues, perhaps for every bill and debate.

  20. Taking the piss out of a man by highlighting his physical disability is not what I expect on this 'mature' section of the site. :(
