The Marine Support & Training Service http://www.mstsblyth.org.uk is based in Blyth, Northumberland, where we provide on and off the water training. Membership is open to anyone. We have strong links with the North-East Regional Alcohol Forum, and provide 'intervention therapy for their clients - see http://www.neraf.org.uk for further details. Unlike many other worthy causes, we survive by not asking for cash, but donations of redundant equipment. We are currently looking for anyone who might have a boat to donate, which we can use instead of having to charter. The vessel may be either power or sail, as we teach practical seamanship on both, and the Andrew can no longer donate! Unfortunately, the person whose vessels we have used until recently has died, and his executors decided that the proceeds of the vessels should be included in his estate. We are also looking for instructors, so if there is anyone out there who lives within a few miles of Blyth, why not pop in for a brew and a chat? This plea comes from an ex-Royal who believes in giving something back to the community. Thanks for reading this.
