Welcome to the Navy Net aka Rum Ration

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial RN website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. i've been trying to watch this online, it just skips and freezes so much. I never get that issue with BBC iPlayer, 4OD, sky player etc... tried looking for it on torrents. but cant see any. would be good to watch though. wonder if it's on DVD?

  2. Don't read too much into it, it was very much edited for television.

  4. sorry dont know why that sent twice?

  5. You must have double tapped the Pressel Switch.

I quite enjoyed watching it to be honest. I could -even as an ex pongo knowing little of RN life- see some TV "BS".

  6. Nah, it's not on DVD yet. I'll try and find a way to download them.

  9. hey i've managed to watch 4 of them now. it seems channel five's servers are pretty crap and are too busy during peak times. I was up till 4am watching them, I think they are great. I've been talking about them all day to my family. Gives you a good insight into what living on board is really like. It hasn't changed my opinion at all. I'm even more determinded to get there now.

  10. I remb in 2003, watching a TV documentry down in Plymouth on RN basic training. I saw them with duvets and though 'you lucky buggers', least they don't catch fleas from them, unlike those horrid, itchy blankets we ad!

  11. Don't see the point in watching it.

Been there done it! Why do I want to sit and watch some other bugger doing it !!!!!

MAybe see the point for non nautical peeps wanting to get an insight but nah!!!! No fer me.

  12. :whew: go to you tube :thumright: and watch the episodes of "Sailor" :thumright: quality

  13. Managed to get a copy of the DVD series of Sailor, would recommend it to anyone. My favorite episode, the one about little Wilf "oiiii winkers!"

  16. The one taken some 8 yrs later :salut: With the MAA distraught seeing the ship at the breakers yard  Also on a lighter note Wilf driving the coastguards landy, and the Skipper I/C lifeboats in retirement :salut:

  17. The guy who's uploaded clips on youtube, his username is tvfilmglamdirector. Send him a message and he should get back to you, he's a nice guy and only charged me £8.50.

  18. I have sent tvfilmglamdirector a message on youtube, I'll let you know his response.

  19. I've just got a reply from the gent on youtube. The disks are indeed only £8.50 which I think is very reasonable. Even cheaper without the covers. And it includes shipping! Bargain!
