For years we have gone on about the attributes of HBM and wire to fix all things knackered. Obviously they have indeed listened and introduced the HBM and wire option as SOP to fix all problems.

Come on! Araldite was a two part mix and wasn't as quick a fix as HBM. Anyway it added a tad of permanency to a repair!!! Once araldited one could hardly tear off and replace with even more black stuff!!

Or the wafu equivalent, speed tape, available in 200, 300, and 400 knot variants. And it does exactly what it says on the tin/ roll. Even applied these days to the leading edges of aircraft wings. If we ever get back to flying normality take a look at the leading edge of the wing or tail plane. Especially on the newer plastic fantastic aircraft like the 787 or A350, which use large amounts of composite material, and are affected badly by lightning strikes, requiring specialist repair.

Only tape like that I was aware of was the 'stuff' we applied to leading edges of rotor blades. 3M I believe!! Never knew it came it speeds!!!

Speed tape also excellent for making coffee tin spud launchers.

Have only just found this site and have been out since 1976 so sorry if I am talking rubbish and I know this was a while ago, Ref towed array;
1 Despite helo regaining contact was it insufficiently supplied with sonar bouys?
2 sonar room did not pick up the subs rapid turn and closure.
3 If Northumberland is rendered non affective by a partial strike on the array if I had Russian subs would be fitting a cable cutter !
