Waiting List Times??

Welcome to the Navy Net aka Rum Ration

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial RN website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Hey does anyone know how long the wait would be for a Hydrographic, Meteorological and Oceanographic specialist would be??

    Much appreciated :)
  2. What did the AFCO say?
  3. I applied through a careers fair at my workplace, been sent a date for the RT in two weeks, so that will be my first time AFCO. So not had chance to ask yet.
  4. I believe it's a long wait as it's a small branch. A careers advisor will be along later.

I don't know why they've booked you an RT without discussing the branch, waiting times etc first though.

Guestimate - 2 to 3 years for WS(HM) - from RT to entry.
  6. Thanks, thought it would be.
  7. I am joining as a HM too. Its a long wait but I am sure it will be worth it. 2 years down, 1 to go,so should be getting in next year. Where are you in the selection process?
  8. It's always been a long wait. 34 years ago when I first went to the careers office it was 18 months. Hang in there, it will be worth it.

Just to throw the moggy in amongst the budgies, one of my candidates passed the Recruiting Test for WS(HM) in Oct 2009 - just been allocated an entry date in May 2012.

Before anyone starts comparing their experience directly, the waiting times vary from person to person depending on the wait when they passed the test, the wait when they chose that branch and a whole bunch of other variables such as delays through Medical referrals, PJFT fails, etc., etc.

  10. And if you go to the AFCO Friday afternoon!

That tends to be the exclusive domain of the potential Officer undergrad - 16:25hrs on a Friday - presumably it's when they finally get out of bed, just before the weekend "off".
  12. They wouldn't find me in at that time, places to go and people to see. It is amazing how many turn up 10 minutes before you close and expect a full briefing.

No Wednesday sports M & M for us careers boys/girls though and evening and weekend work. Come to think of it what am I doing??
