Victoria Cross-winning soldier Johnson Beharry has revealed he refused to shake Gordon Brown's hand in protest at the PM's "disrespect" for the Armed Forces.

The lance corporal said he turned round and walked off as the Premier offered his hand during a Remembrance Day service last November.

L/Cpl Beharry told reporters he was "absolutely furious" at the way Mr Brown fidgeted and moved during the two-minute silence, adding: "All that was going through my head was to knock him out. I decided I'd get his attention and let him know how I felt."

,,,,He added: "This is nothing to do with the election, or who I want to be PM. My problem is with him personally, Gordon Brown the man."
Sounds like he deserves a bar to the original IMO ... and nice to note that his actions were not politically motivated but were based on a strong moral point - the very standards the UK armed forces aim to preserve

Original article in The Sun

I think Johnson Beharry was probably just speaking honestly about his feelings but I find the article and it's timing quite bizarre. It doesn't seem to be related to anything current, it's as if it was just being stored up by The Sun to be used in an election season. I wonder if he knew it would be used in this way when he made the comments to the journalist.

You are probably right about the Sun dredging it up for the election season - stand by for more examples (and there will be lots of them) now the date has been formally announced
