Trident replacement??

Welcome to the Navy Net aka Rum Ration

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial RN website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Mr.Fox announced that trident would be replaced today, so what will it be replaced with?
And what does this mean for the RN?
  2. 1. SSBN(F)

    2. SAME, SAME
  3. Surely the answer to the first question is:

Whatever the Septics decide the replacement for Trident is.

The V-boats will be replaced by SSBN(F), and carry WTSDTRFTI.
  4. Interestingly, I believe that we need to renew the platforms (because they will be knackered) before the Yanks need to replace the Trident missile system. So SSBN(F) needs to be based on Trident but with the ability/ space to back-fit the Trident replacement. Of course we could always delay SSBN(F) until the new weapon system is available and effectively do what we did with the V boats i.e. new platform & new weapon system at the same time. Trouble is we then have a gap between A7 and the 1st SSBN(F), meaning BAe get rid of all their manpower. I do believe we've been here before! I know, lets order another A boat to fill the gap
  5. We must also cross our fingers that the reactors last that long. The replacement of R boats by V boats was a close run thing.
  6. That term was superseded a while ago....
  7. Has it?? They arn't called SSBN's anymore??
  8. I think scabz is referring to the (F) part
  9. I don't think it matters what the f*ck we call it - it will still be full of FKFPs :D
