Welcome to the Navy Net aka Rum Ration

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial RN website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. I don't think the cruise missiles are any good for nuclear deterant. Ten would be needed for each target, just to get through. The launch platform would be destroyed, stopping a secondary attack.

    For once common Labour!

P.S. The carriers are a nessary. Poor old typhoon. :salute: looks like a good bye :(

For the three thousandth time, cruise missiles compromise the platform by restricting the area of sea it can use, and therefore do not produce a credible deterrent. This is not about deterring third-rank nuclear states only, it is about deterring Russia in an uncertain post-Putin era far into the future, and China, in a world where we cannot assume that the United States will do our dirty work for us, nor that our European alleged allies will necessarily come to our aid.
