I was on 29 JSTU Trials flight testing the Sea Skua missile at Aberporth before and during the Falklands war. The missile was used in anger and so became a war proven missile. Cut the trials time by at least six months, shame really as it was a good flight and a good number
Yep, I remember our Lynx taking off from Argonaut with two Skuas with the intent of ruining an Argentine STUFT's day.
Thirty-minutes later it returned on deck sideways with two hung-up Skuas, totally ruining our day instead. :lol:
How times move on, from the wire guided AS12's on the dear old Wasp to 'ripple' firing Skua from the newest Lynx.
Nice to see the targets haven't changed even if the weaponry has. :lol: :lol:
I remember a Wessex 1 fitted with SS11 and 2 forward firing 303 Brownings. Not used in anger though!
