  1. Hey,

I'm lucky enough to start training on the 7th of Jan, but was just wondering about the structure of the pipeline.

Training will commence 07/01/08, and so after the first 7 week phase, will end 22/02/08.

    No probs.

Then phase 2. As I'm aircrew am I correct in thinking I will then do the Ark Royal phase at RNAS Yeovilton & am assuming that it is 7 weeks also? As easter is so early this year, will the phase be interrupted or do we continue to train throughout this time? As easter is the 23/03/07, we would have 3 weeks before easter, 2 weeks off, and then 4 weeks after meaning the phase would end 25/04/07? After which we would join up with February intake and start Pre-IST with the non-aircrew YO's on 28/04/07 (is there even an intake then?).

Like to have things organised, as you can probably tell.

    Kind Regards,

    Rich

  2. Can't speak for your Phase Two pipeline but you might want to review your calculations. Phase one is NINE weeks long. You arrive on a Sunday and your first week is complete on the first Friday...

    Rich,
You are either a public school educated officer .ie no common dog, as direct entry aircrew, you must be an officer thus your time at Dartmouth is considerably longer than 9 weeks, Shawbury etc
    or
Already full of shit as a rating and will go far, as you can`t join up as aircrew as your source trade.
Either way ill informed or a Bullshitter.

  4. Sorry guys, you appear to of misunderstood my post.

Polto, I'm joining as an Officer, and so my phases are SEVEN weeks long, and not NINE. I take 4 phases at BRNC and also grading at RNAS Yeovilton.

copenhagencup, not sure where you are coming from really. This question has nothing to do with 'common dog'. Yes my time at Dartmouth is considerably longer than SEVEN weeks, but that is not my question. I am wondering if the grading phase of Pilot training is split around easter as I'm assuming the base closes down / is run on skeleton staff for this period?

So no, I wouldn't say I am either ill informed or a bullshitter. I think that you were reading what you liked into my question, tried to take a dig and ended up looking stupid.

  5. ooh, somebodys tired..... (well it is late)

  6. Cullie,
I am glad I`m leaving the RN (22 years stowed) because, if that is the level of your report writing clarity, I would hate to think that you would be producing my RORRS 3 report.

  7. With three weeks to go before you start, it looks like you're pretty ill informed. Phone the college, training planning office, and ask them.

Although I do think a little common dog might be in order.

  8. DOES THE TERM "WAFU" RING ANY BELLS WITH SOMEONE.

AIRCREW COURSES SHOULD BE EXTENDED TO TEACH SOME CDF.

31 YEARS AND THINGS DONT CHANGE........

  9. I believe Aircrew Entry is as follows:

    35 Weeks at Dartmouth
    -7 weeks Militarisation
    -pre IST
    -IST
    -Passing out phase

    26 Weeks at Cranwell

Then you will specialise rotary or Fixed wing.

I know the break down for those as well so just ask if you need help. Thats if im right of course, but i got told at AIB two days ago that i was correct.

Edited - This is for Pilot i dont kow about Observer

Your BRNC time is a phase short - which is the phase purely for aircrew between militarisation and pre IST.

In this phase you will do such things as 'maths for aircrew' - (how appropriate lol) and the all important grading. BRNC is the same for both P and O.
