Welcome to the Navy Net aka Rum Ration

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial RN website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Titanic the Mission, on Channel 4 now.

Exploring the engineering behind her and how things were done way back when.

It will, obviously, be on in an hour again on C4 +1

  2. I watched first episode and liked it, now watching the second episode.
  3. I thought it was pants miself. :(
  4. I watched a repeat of that Martin Clunes thing about dogs while I waited for the Inbetweeners to come on.

My God that man is a fcuking dullard.

The programme was awful but I had no idea that anchors and cable came from this one specialist company, and the technicalities of the casting and assembly were interesting. But I think that firm must have had anchors coming out of its ears in WW1 & WW2 unless there were other companies in the game.

What was awful about.. it showed what this country was capable of doing, and not so long ago, the fact that there are no longer any British companies making Anchors and chains on a regular basis is disgusting, in fact it's disgusting that there is very little heavy engineering in this counry any more.

If this country ever had to mass produce warships again, this programme proved it would be up shit creek without a paddle.[/align]

What was awful for me was the tacky way it was presented. The story underneath was fascinating .. if only it had been better told.
  8. Okay I tend to agree with that, the presentation was little on the amateurish side
  9. My sentiments exactly. Really patronising and the f*ckwits who are getting involved in manufacturing these sections are a bunch of self obsessed drama queens.
