Fukcing arrogant big ship pricks. History dies around the whole of our country constantly, why are they so special? There was a real gem of a letter in NN years ago about ship's names, I wish I could find that. The greater shame is that we are not allowed to give ships "aggressive" names anymore.
    Flagship? Isn't that HMS Victory?

Edit to add, bit of a rant I know, but the views of a crew of a metal lump welded to the jetties in Pompey are not relevant to today's navy that are spending more and more time at sea.
There are far worthier names to consider for new ships; Hood and Sheffield are just 2 that spring to mind.

    Sol,
Hi shippers, it was about ships being called "soft names", a long time ago I think, berating the abolishment of names such as "Broadsword" and "Battleaxe", biased for 22's there I know, but I'm old and pissed so that's all I can muster.

I remember that gem. The correspondent asked why we were now naming ships after 'shopping centres'.

That'd be HMS ST ALBANS then.
