Welcome to the Navy Net aka Rum Ration

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial RN website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Hello

Roughly how long does a warfare specialist spend at sea in one year? I know it must vary but i just want a rough idea.

4months in port, 3 months away etc etc... stuff like that.

  2. It is not that easy to quantify. Each ship has its programme and thats that. Some will be away more than others in a given year.
There are guidelines for how long in a year a ship should spend in its base port, but believe me thay are just that - guidlines
  3. No official answer to that, unfortunately.

If you are serving you can check your ship's Long Cast but apart from that, you've signed ont he dotted line, you go with the flow

  4. If you join the R.N. you must expect to spend a lot of time at sea! It goes with the job after all.
  5. Ok, I Was just trying to get a general idea.

    Thanks Anyway.
  6. Happy Sailing Matey. The first 22 years are the worst. The rest is down hill :?
  7. Poor sod having to spend all that time at dog shit city. My condolences mate.
