Re: Former Royal Marine Officer - Now a Diplomat

Checked his Wiki and hummmmm. Doesn't quite sit right. Anyone else think the same or have I become so cynical these days?

  3. Re: Former Royal Marine Officer - Now a Diplomat

The Wiki page is iffy. So his education as a RM officer was gained at BRNC Dartmouth. Not CTCRM?

  4. Re: Former Royal Marine Officer - Now a Diplomat

From what I can find, all RM officers do their training at CTCRM so that part goes without saying.

But don't officers do some studying at BRNC too?

There were a few RM YOs who did the in-service degree and took academic terms at BRNC but this was in the early 1990 and only lasted for a few terms. Also as an officer it is rare to complete two specialisations (M&AW and WTO) due to career progression. His time as a Capt and Maj also seems based around CTCRM and this is not the norm. I would expect him to have done jobs elsewhere within 3 Cdo Bde.

As as to training with Portugeese SF. Well I mean I've done a exercise with the SAS, as a maritime planner. Yes I trained with the SAS but the way he implies is he did the knife fighting black masking tape stuff where as I furthered my combat skill of Word and Excel. But put it on a CV and there we have a little glamour.

  8. Re: Former Royal Marine Officer - Now a Diplomat

Okay, so that is some good info right there, looks like he was in the Marines in the 1990's?

I'm probably not the only one on here who is intrigued as to why you "really want to meet him."

Does he know next week's lottery numbers or something else of significance.
