The world gone mad?

War Hero
If you ignore it, it will eventually go away.

Good advice for most things really.

Unless it is blood in your stool. You really should go and get that checked out.
Steady Dredd, don't give him ideas for his next moniker. Although 'Bloody Stool' might really suit...

This morning ,my wife and I ,at Waitrose ,thought everyone had lost their senses.
Perhaps the younger generation has.
The world has financially over-heated and a solution needed to be found.
Get people worrying if they are going to live? What better way?
I remarked to an old gentleman in the queue that it reminded me that as a 9 year old queuing up for my gas respirator
It would be imprudent of me , on a Sunday ,to print his retort.
Let me see if this is correct.

They issued gas masks in 1939 making you around 90 years old.
90 year old you and the Mrs queue up and start chatting to ‘an old gentleman’ about geoeconomics.

Cool story bro......

You are absolutely correct. My neighbours comprise two who have recently received their Legion D'onore's. My immediate MN neighbour who has medals from WW2 (as a Cadet) Korean War and Falklands Campaign (latterly as a Captain).
Age doth not necessarily addle our brains-- strange as it might seem to you.

Do you and your neighbours live in a cemetery and pop out occasionally for some shopping and haunt RR?

Thank you.
Age notwithstanding ,we'll just have to capitulate and admit our service to the Crown pales into insignificance when compared to yours.
God's waiting-room awaits us.

You're already in the waiting room.
To wait (something) out "endure a period of waiting" is recorded from 1849. Waiting room is attested from 1680s. Waiting list is recorded from 1841; the verb wait-list "to put (someone) on a waiting list" is recorded from 1960. Waiting game is recorded from 1835, originally in horse-racing.

When speed, not stoutness, is the best of a horse, quite a contrary system is practised. With such a horse, the jockey plays a waiting game; that is, he carefully nurses him through the race, so as not to distress him by overpacing him; as the finish approaches, he creeps up to his horses by degrees, but does not quit them to go in front till he sees that the pace has made them "safe," -- when he lets loose and wins.

Here's another old one-Not as old as we are though.
In the duty crewroom. They had just finished 'turning round' (refuelled, checked air pressure, hydraulic fluid levels, did the pre-flight checks etc.) six Hawker Hunters from the German Air Force, which had landed about 45 minutes ago. The pilots were in the wardroom having lunch, so they were waiting their return so that they could get 'em airborne again without delay. The line chief came bursting into the crewroom and, panting, gasping for air, asked in a desperate tone "Does anyone here Sprechen sie Deutsch ?". One lad, a national serviceman, who'd been to university and was therefore a cut above the rest of them, jumped up and said "Ja, ich spreche fließend Deutsch". The line chief, now fully recovered said "Thank gawd for that... we need someone to clean out the schitzen housen".
