Welcome to the Navy Net aka Rum Ration

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial RN website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Sorry if there is already a thread on this subject, I couldn't find one, but maybe the moderator could move this if there is!

For those around Hampshire, you may be interested in joining Liss & District RNA for a presentation on the project from David Carey, the Project Manager ( it will be on Wed 4 March at 20.00 at the Liss RBL Club, Rake Road in Liss.

  2. Just to amplify mcgoo's post, Project VERNON is an exciting new campaign to erect a statue at Gunwharf Quays in Portsmouth to commemorate the Minewarfare & Diving heritage of HMS Vernon which previously stood on the site. The Project VERNON website is here and further coverage can be found on the 'Welcome to Portsmouth' website here.

    Maquette of Project VERNON statue
(the base will be much simplified)

Good progress has already been made and the approval of charitable trust status is imminent. When this comes through, fundraising will begin in earnest. If you wish to help in the meantime, take a look at the Project website's Donations and Purchases pages.
  3. Hope we'll be seeing you on 4th Naval Gazer?
  4. Cheers for the info NG.
  5. No promises but there's a distinct possibility.
