There was also the other stuff sold out of ice cream vans that came in glass bottles that would have graced a cathedral window. The green stuff ( Ferguson , name like that, certainly a local manufacturer ) had enough sugar in it ( to say nothing of the carcinogenic quality of the coulouring ) that a cup alone provoked an urge to go out and punch a police horse, or an elephant, in the face. Of course the ice cream vans also sold other unhealthy stuff to the occupants of Scotland’s council estates that led to the “ice cream wars “.
From memory the big Yin did a drama about it and v good it was to. I’ll try and pin down the link.

Being a good Jock, I joke about not eating any of that poncy coloured stuff aka fruit and veg.

We were out at a 'do' the other night and the charming hostess gently pointed out to me that she'd made several nibbles and canapes specially for me with nothing healthy in them!
