Here's food for thought. We get a lot of COBS (c*nts on bikes) riding through our village.
Yesterday 2nd son's oppo called by to pick up some cartridges. He drives a 12 month old Mitsubishi L200 pick up truck which he parked on the road outside our house. When he returned to it a cyclist wearing all the lycra gear complete with helmet cam was walking round the truck looking a bit too interested in it. When Jack challenged him, he said he'd got cramp and was trying to walk it off. Jack then asked him why he didn't walk it off up and down the footpath instead of round his truck, the bloke jumped on his bike and pedalled of rapidly, so obviously no cramp then. A fair few trucks and Landies have been pinched in the area over the last year or so, is this were the thieves are getting their info from?

Many moons ago, l had an half decent mountain bike nicked. When I thought about previous week's before theft, I remembered seeing a tramp on my way home, each time at a different junction getting closer each time to my home. The bike had 2 big chains onto a scaffold bar, all I found was both chains cut through. I told all this to the police, they said they knew of a gang that went for my make of bike.

A few years ago a gang were caught by police in Herefordshire pinching the popular Ifor Williams trailers. They were part of a ring covering South Wales and the South West, they would nick the trailers, transport them to Somerset, Dorset, Glamorgan, Pembrokeshire etc. and bring trailers stolen in those areas back to Herefordshire. Most were sold through agricultural specialists' auction houses. The scam was only discovered when a woman on holiday in Dorset recognised her horsebox at a gymkhana. Apparently this scam involved hundreds of trailers over a number of years. I think Ifor Williams now operates a registration and security marking scheme for all it's new trailers.
