The hills and general fitness questions

Doc,
Your first answer was good. It was the "Now please fcuk off." part that was the brave part, that belongs in another forum.
Hig is correct that a Potential Officer should be using their common dog and finding some things out themselves rather than getting everyone else to do it for them. A quick look at a map would tell everything he wanted to know.

I'd step back even further and question what the relevance of the question is. Dartmouth is built on the side of a hill, people spend anything from 4 to 12 months there and will run up and down the hill frequently, at different paces and in different rigs.

There is some very credible evidence that ********* served in the mob well before my time, and will continue to do so, well beyond when I hang up my uniform for the last time.

So you won't be the end of the line then?

Rage? Rage? you don`t fukcing know me, potential Royal Navy Officers?, believe me , even the ********* I served with had a fukcing sight more common dog than you you lot do. Are you in the RN yet? if not Zip it.

You won`t like me if I get angry.

I'm going to choose not to take that personally! But Hig with that attitude you can kiss goodbye to that blow job!! :D

I really, really, must learn to keep my big fukcing mouth shut, so near, yet so far.

Inquiring minds need to learn to read a map, google it, gradients and contours are all there, but WTF does it matter? what is to do, is to do.

I agree to be honest, ( not like i know ANYTHING about BRNC) but the hills arent going to be that bloody big, just get as fit as humanly possible and you wont have to worry about that slight gradient, or any gradient for that matter.

Hig: It occurs to me that you do not approve how much "your Navy" [sic] has changed since you left the Service, and your subsequent comments about the standards of potential recruits seems to make your blood boil.

If you hate the topic so much, why do you continue to comment on such threads? Why not ignore them and contribute to matters which you would no doubt know more about? I am sure you will then learn to enjoy life much more, and also people won't think of you as a sad, bitter and cantankeous old ******...

Your joining as a baby Rupert, just get your man to run up and down the hills for you. That way you can enjoy the golf course/cricket/rugby/real tennis on offer ( I nearly said sailing but there's a bit of a steep stairway down to that)

`Karma` I believe is a serving Officer, I may be wrong, who is to say who is on an unofficial site, But remarks like, and I quote `I think the angst and frustration is the only thing that keeps him going. It prevents his heart stopping`Just goes to prove that SOME of the ********* that I served with are still around.
If you are a potential Officer, then show some common dog, and think hard before you open your mouth.

I'm intriqued, what is it exactly from that quote that leads you to conclude that Karma may be an ********?

If I may reply to your post, what part of the quote makes you think that he isn`t?

Hmmm, didn't intend to start a rant.

The way i see it, i did ask a geographical question, related to my future training in the navy. Just as relevent as asking where the RN currently undertake operations. True, given some common sense and hard work, i could have found a map and worked out the gradients myself.

Instead i chose to utilise the experience of the group, choosing the right people to get the answers i want.

Not quite... everyone works in my team, including me.

After all what is the use of having the newbies section if not to ask naive questions and get shot down with common sense answers and learn?

Hope that ends the fighting ... who am i kidding ;-)

do you find yourself asking questions like "is the pavement down at raleigh goin 2 be bumpy i dun wana hurt myself???" THEN DONT EVEN BOTHER APPLYING, YOU GOTTA DO WHAT YOU GOTTA DO no questions asked.

After a quick search on Google Earth, and a 30 second sum I can tell you that the goes from an elevation of 10m up to 46m and is 245 metres long.

Divide the rise by the run to- hell, I'll do it for you. The answer-to three decimal places- is 0.155.

Write it as a percentage. Feck it. I'll do that for you as well.

15%. The gradient is 15%

EDIT: That's to the top of the road from the dock/marina/the boaty place.
