Was there an, er... "entertainment establishment" on Town Range? Lived in Gib for a year or two as a kid, and our first quarter was along there. Apparently it was quite common for my parents to return home late in the evening to find chaps of a nautical persuasion wanting to get in. I did wonder if it was part of a wind-up (perhaps the previous occupant was an RN officer, and the last person the unsuspecting victims would be expecting to meet at the door...)

Do any of you silly old farts remember the euphemistically named RN Sports and Social Club? As I recall, it was just along from Rooke on a patch of land and was the upper of two PortaCabins.

A very cheap drinking den is what it was, run and staffed by I think PTIs.

Gib, memories - first veiwing of a miniskirt after 18 months far east, landrover nearly hit a light pole in the main st, run ashore with our new boss (FDO) and being 'asked' to leave the casino after which one of the guys got rolled going through the dockyard. Another time anchored off and the liberty boat being sent around again and again because the OOD didn't like the choir we had onboard and then it ran out of diesel. Plus several hazy days..

Buying a state of the art watch and haggling over the price. Cool timepiece back then, but bloody useless in a red lighting environment.

Had my leaving do there in 88. Was right by the sea. When I went back in 93 it was a couple of hundred yards inland due to reclamation. The new one was at Cormorant. Cheap beer though!
