The decline of the largest/most powerful navy in the world

Welcome to the Navy Net aka Rum Ration

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial RN website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. oh dear what a mess we find ourselves in!

the navy as a whole is being downsized and sold off, we are currently living on a knifes edge and dont have enough resourses to conduct global operations.

with redundancies just around the corner its going to get even worse, we are also closing down and selling off real estate and bases quicker than we can say "shafted"

its a shame that any government could allow the once most powerful navy fall into such disrepair and i feel for all current serving members of our armed forces and their families.

  2. Lets not forget that the last Fleet Air Arm in Scotland goes within a few weeks when the final nail on the coffin of HMS Gannet is hammered in.
The SAR duties go back to civvys.

What?! The WAFUs will have even less to do?! [JOKE]

I agree with the POVs posted on this subject; you can fit the whole of the Naval Service into an average ground of a British football club now...

  7. It's so sad the way our country was so great, with powerful, historical Navy and now our government's demoting our status in the middle of great political 'unrest'. Obviously we will be just fine without it.
