The Chavs Have Arrived.

As I see all too often in my work, the rise of the cheap airfare has encouraged travel by people who would normally not have the rescources, both financial and intellectual, to travel beyond their local pub or club.

Having left Blighty before the 'Creation' of the Chav, I have only vague ideas of the qualifications for chavness and so base the following on my observations of NZ Yoof.
A passion for knock off Burberry tartan (I much prefer the Barbour plaid of my OG waxed jacket) and garish gold (plated??) jewelry combined with tracksuits/leisure wear of questionable quality and/or authenticity, add to this body kits, guages and shoite sound systems in their crap motors and am I getting close?
The common denominator I think will be a passion for Rap artists who have heavy Bass beats in their 'music'.
The low level frequencies of the bass will have seriously damaged the cerebral cortex and therefore any sense of taste or empathy with other citizens will be missing from the chavs brain and he/she will act as he/she wants and if you don't like it TOUGH, it is their right to do as they wish DON'T YOU KNOW NUFFINK! INNIT?

Ooops! If we are going to hunt chavs then it is best to start at the top of the tree.
Sadly them up there have more opportunity to shoot back than those who live on the lower branches...watch out!

Perhaps one of these will shake them out of the tree?

Not that thing again!!!!

My job a few years back was driving one of those things!! If the reclaim bucket goes out on overload we had to go reset the overloads in the switchroom over the rear boom a grand event on a winters night I can tell thee!!

Greasing the pulleys on the top masts another fave job!!

Removing chavs waste of a good machine!!

Backpacker, they can dig out 70 chavs a minute from the deepest pits where they're hiding. Working flat out, round the clock, they could de-chav Britain in less than a year! ;) The question is would this amount to a form of ethnic cleansing? If so, as a liberal I'd be bound to oppose it and demand that their living areas be designated SSSIs (sites of special scientific interest).

SAVE OUR CHAVS - CAUSE THEY'RE O U R CHAVS!

Rod, you can bid for a sabattical by sending in a signed, blank cheque to any political party. You'll receive one in the New Year's Honours...

Having just returned from the UAE where I was accommodated in one of the excellent 5* hotels it is my sad duty to report that over the last 10 years or so the quality of guests using these establishments has fallen spectacularly. To make my point I will list a few of their shortcomings below.

1. Smart casual for dinner does not mean a football shirt and trainers, even if they did cost £200

2. When transiting the lobby area they do not seem to be aware that a bikini or swimming trunks is just not acceptable attire.

3. They have no understanding of the structure of a dinner menu; you do not start with dessert, neither do you spoon food from your plate into your dining companions mouth.

4. Many of them seem unable to negotiate the finer points of eating an oyster; you do not scrape out the meat with a fork, and then pretend to vomit when you have placed the delicacy in your mouth.

5. Switching your mobile to silent mode when dining seems beyond them.

I could go on but to summarise it seems that the wrong sort now have far too much. disposable income.

And here's me thinking that snobbery was exclusively a Conservative party member trait. WTF was a practising socialist doing holidaying at a 5* hotel in the UAE? So much for party principles! :thumright:

Well I am a champagne socialist and as a grammar school boy I really do not wish to mix with moronic pikey chav types and neither does Mrs F. We are taking a long hard look at the options available to us that will keep us ahead of the ever advancing tide of those who do not have the essential breeding that would allow them to carry an Amex Centurion Card.

You really are a hypocrite Finky. I suppose it is because of those like you that I have nothing but contempt for the modern liebour party.

Ah a bit like the lowering of standards in the RN then

You need to lighten up, and live in the 00's then, and not stuck in your 80's backwater mind set, and support these people :)

Quite strange that you didn't do a bit of outreach and teach the poor unfortunates how to behave properly in civilised company.
Keir Hardie turns in his grave at your discomforture.

Looks like I have done a good job then. =)

Dear Finky is by no means unique. Many who claim (or have claimed if deceased) to adhere to the pricipals of socialism are out and out snobs. Nor is socialist snobbery a new phenomenon.

Like Finky I am choosy about who I drinkl with, but have never used breeding as a differentiator. If you are adecent bloke/l;ass I will happily drink with you what ever your background.

I am a very decent bloke!

After all what better grounding could you have than 24 years before the mast in the Andrew of the 60's?

A decent snob perhaps

Having been in the Andrew at the same time, it was as one might imagine a mixed bag, not all the snobs lived in the Wardrrom, they could be found everywhere even in the stokers messdeck. Also how did you fit 24 years into thee 60s, I only managed to get ten years into the 60s.

Personally I find snobbery amongst socialists as distasteful as discrimination by those who purport to be christian.

We are after all all born equal

With great difficulty.

I have moved on from the council house upbringing, I know; you used to dream about living in a council house. As for all being born equal fine words but not really true.

Finknottle admit it you are a snob.
Now that we have got that out of the way I will hold my hand up and admit to also being a snob.
When I bought my house I made sure that it was not on a council estate because I wanted to live amongst my hard working peers. Now don't get me wrong, I am not stating that those living on council estates are workshy, my mother and sister live in council housing. However on a private estate you do have a little control over who your neighbours are (if they can't afford it they won't live next door to you). Some of the sink estates in Wokingham (yes we do have them) have a large proportion of workshy chavs, sometimes more than one generation in the same property. If not wishing to live amongst or socialise with these chavs makes me a snob then I am proud to be one.
As for all the hardworking council tenants forced by today's society to live near them, sorry you have my deepest sympathy and I would be more than pleased to join you for a drink. Perhaps if the social security system was given it's long overdue overhaul the dross would be forced to work. :thumright:
