Welcome to the Navy Net aka Rum Ration

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial RN website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. I'd be grateful for suggestions as to the best websites or books that outline the history of the sailor's uniform. I remember many months ago Thingy posting something on why the navy dressed its rates in Victorian children't clothes.

Books or websites - either or both gratefully received

I think you'll find that was Huffnut Cringe, aka Norman having a rant on that very topic but Edwardian, rather than Victorian.

  3. My Action Sailor is dressed in the square rig of the 1930s!

  4. GR, you can touch my sailor's dicky collar for good luck anytime!

  5. Thanks Thingy - might not be able to control myself and I wouldn't want to make you sick (again) :whew:
