A letter written by Admiral Lord Nelson in which he describes the French as "thieves, murderers, oppressors and infidels" and says that he "cannot hold faith" with anyone in the nation, has been sold at auction for £9,000.

How did he manage to sum them up so accurately? I've not yet met a Frenchman I could trust and most of the RN have probably yet to find a writer that they can trust either!
