Liam Fox's statement will bring nightmares to our anti-terrorist groups. We can't defend ourselves against future threats? So wtf are we doing in Afghanistan. That's costing us more thaan our nutty money. I reckon we should shut up shop for a couple of years. No outside aid, no armed forces expansion (or reduction) for a couple of years. Freeze pay and all prices. I reckon we could save a great deal by becoming insular and isolated for a spell. The whole friggin world thinks we are anyway. Secretly build up our manufacturing industries and then launch them on an unsuspecting world.
Our bloody government (any of the buggers) would see us with begging bowl on the seedy corners of the world. I wonder how the lads are going to manage if pay gets frozen. 8)

Didn't take him long to demonstrate his total grasp of air warfare. So carriers with no amphibious assault capability (and no aircraft) to back them up.

Who are these commandoes we are losing, are the Royal Marine Commandos now saved then? Or should James Kirkup, a supposed professional journalist whose job it is to write for a living learn to spell?

''As the department works on the Strategic Defence and Security Review and debates its budget with the Treasury, the minister has warned many of his staff to expect to work at least six days weeks until October''

    Shock horror.

That'll come as a huge shock to the many military staff who commute, by coming in late Monday afternoon and leaving the building on Friday morning to get home then. Going to totally mess up their time with their families, which isn't good.

As for bollotoms misinformed BS, absolute rubbish - for the CS affected there is no overtime budget at the moment, so they'll be working for free (maybe getting TOIL later) and won't qualify for any meals on duty or accomodation. Lets not let the truth get in the way of a rant though.
