Sun: "Prince Philip Wants Princess Anne To Head Up The Royal Marines Once Harry Quits"

"Prince Philip wants his daughter to take over as head of the Royal Marines after Harry walked away from the job.

He is said to be “incandescent with rage” at Harry for giving up his military role, including Captain General of the Royal Marines — a job Philip held for 64 years."

Did she even go to Dartmouth? My opinion of Anne as a Senior RN/RM figure is the same as Prince Edward, at least he gave it a go :(

She gets dressed up in a uniform and is told where she has to be and when, before somebody says she does wonders for the RN.

'Incandescent'? Hyperbole the rule, rather than the exception at the Sun? :)

Yawn.

Is it a purely ceremonial position with no operational or strategic input?

Not really an issue then.

I wonder whether it will be The Duchess of Cambridge? She doesn't seem to have been appointed to any of these roles so far.

Either way the nation is going to be short on royals for all the jobs and patronages that exist, both civil and military.

In the last twelve months or so we have lost DoE, DoY, and now DoS from the "active list". Looking at the generation now doing almost of the jobs, the four children of HMQ, allowing for spouses they could, in theory, have fielded eight bodies in any day. They are not getting any younger and will, too have to take a back seat in due course.

The Canadian Couple, vying for more personal time, have really left the Cambridges with a heap of events and portfolios to cover. They are now going to be busy. Selfishly the Sussex's have ensured that the Cambridge household are going to have even less time for their children.

Anyway, don't want to start another thread on that topic....

If William can wear dolphins without qualifying I'm sure Anne can be head of the booties, plus she probably has more balls than most of the Royals.

She's a chip off the fathers block IMO.
