Welcome to the Navy Net aka Rum Ration

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial RN website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Whilst I was looking up some details on Tubby Linton,I discovered there is a pub named after him in his home town of Newport. Are there any other pubs that are named after submariners, submarines or have a strong link to the Submarine service?
  2. Dont know of any but I always wanted to run a pub and call it 'The Vent and Blow'.
  3. The Desoutter Spanner
  4. In this country, there's the Astley Arms in Blyth and its association with HMS Seahorse. Then there's the famous Submarine Bar in Dublin. However, the entire town of Holbrook in Australia, complete with a P&O boat (HMAS Otway) and adjacent cafe, is named after the VC-winning WWI submarine CO.
  5. Being on the Otter in 72 the crew were invited to the Dolphin in Liverpool which i believed had just opened. As scratcher of the boat a few of us turned up and i took along a crest we all had a good run.Don,t know if it still exists?
  6. No longer there Dick, big redevelopment site now, I don't think The Dolphin operated for any lenght of time.
