submarine golden hello

OK i know it seems that every post I do is about money but my fella who is doing his basic training was wondering.....he is going into the subs so providing he passes how long do you have to wait for the £5000? (he wants it for our wedding)...sooner we get wed sooner me and our new baby can join him...as the AFCO said you will more then likely get SFA not married with a baby which now seems a load of old crap! TYPICAL!

Oh and I am guessing the tax man wants his share??

afterall you guys and gals will know...the AFCO seemed to say one thing one day something else the next....although he was a very nice man

Thanks :-D

I think the 'welcome to the S/m service bounty is paid as soon as you are awarded your Dolphins-------thats after you have done a sea going trip to qualify.

Its good to know its there but untill its in yer mitt don't bank on it!! and as you mention -the Tax man will get his bite. Maybe better getting married before hand then you can do a tax wangle with your personal allowance to off set tax on the bounty.

Yeah - you can always have a registry office wedding and then with the bonus - have a church blessing etc...

Dont forget to ask his CO to the wedding - its tradition as well as good manners

Not any more - the taxation system for allowances is now based on the concept of "independent taxation", i.e. I get my allowance, my wife gets here and never the twain shall meet; however, for tax credits and income support this concept gets kicked into touch and income is measured on a household basis/
