SUBMARINE BOOKS - Fact & Fiction

Sadly a previous thread with a similar title flopped [ https://www.navy-net.co.uk/community/threads/submarine-booka-and-royal-navy-books.40154/ ]

In common with @janner I too have numerous (Hardcopy & Kindle) S/M books The intention here therefore is for contributors to gather this genre under one roof by sharing details with a two/three liner of the reader's own opinion. Links to fuller Reviews elsewhere would be useful, too.

FACT/FICTION - War Beneath The Sea* by Peter Padfield Naval Historian**

Kindle Edition @£3.99 633 pages First published 1995 This Edition 2013

Bursting with facts of each of the WW2 belligerent's global S/M Ops & apparently deemed a 'Classic' by those who know this subject.
Although written in a narrative style IMO this authoritative book is one to be dipped into rather than swallowed whole.
(It often led this inquisitive reader elsewhere for fuller information, no bad thing if you are also an anchor-faced S/M buff.)
Notable that the Submariners of each nation were frustrated with their unsatisfactory torpedoes/tin fish/eels thoughout the early years of hostilities,
a problem, recurring later in the RN which was to account for the choice of the ancient but reliable Mk 8 by Commander Wreford-Brown DSO RN of HMS CONQUEROR.
*Sample & Details at EDIT: Link attempt was Unsuccessful, Please Go to Amazon Uk & Search using the book's Title instead.
