STC Branch, details and guidance

As someone who failed the STC in the early days when it was just becoming a branch in its own right, and ended up with nothing more than the LONGCON (LONG Range CONtrol) Adqual, I am very disappointed by some of the comments on this thread.

As one of the lesser known specialist skills in the Royal Navy, STCs do not often get much in the way of public credit or recognition for a job well done. To be fair though, the vast majority of STCs and their support units prefer it that way, for obvious reasons.

It is therefore extremely disconcerting for me personally and worrying generally that many of you, who should know better see fit to make mention of individuals, training and operations which should not be discussed in an open forum such as this.

A couple of you have even posted comments pointing this out, and then gone on to make subsequent posts which clearly breach OPSEC and or PERSEC.

I am very disppointed in the way that this thread has been developing and regret that I will be raising the matter at this year's STCA Annual Conference in May.

Those of you who are members will have received initial notification of Conference and if you have also posted on here, you can expect an interview without coffee after the morning session.

Capn Pugwash,

Telling folk that you 'failed selection' is false modesty and neglects the fact of your superior performance at your subsequent attempt.

(only fair to clarify that point otherwise folk would have wondered how the hell you are on the list for the May Conference.)

BTW - Give my regards to Ginger *********son and thank him for his recent contribution to 'The Charity' - He'll understand.

C,

Wrong end of the stick, sunshine!

Ginger **** was nowt to do with STC but merely a fellow student on Pugwash's Archaelogy course whom I met whilst base-jumping for charity from Wigan Pier last Michaelmas.

Clever? Moi? Yes - but this time it's you who is the tool.:slow:

So keep your schonk out & BUFFS !

It makes sense though.

Why the hell would you need to sit on a splash target coxswain being dragged along high speeds by a ship.. it could just go without anyone on it.

Fucking retard.

You think that's what we do? You wouldn't make it through the front door let alone selection, stick to general service you halfchad. STCs no more pilot larne targets than the SBS do an underwater knife fighting course.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a week of beasting potential STC candidates around Sennybridge to prepare for.

If only it were true.

I am, in fact, the only known STC Walt.

Seriously, the LONG CON Adqual entitles me to membership of the STC Association.

The fact that you didnt know this makes me doubt the veracity to your claim to STC quals.

Please bring your service docs to conference for scrutiny by the Membership Sec.

Capn Pug, Sire,

Being a non-Walt I have made no such claim but I do have an admiration for that distinguished brotherhood. Bless 'em all.

I received a reply from that other (non-STC) person to whom we referred to in our pre-Christmas PM exchanges - BZ & VMT.

While the media get themselves worked up into a frenzy about this "botched mission" [sic] it conveniently distracts everyone from the other deployed teams they are quietly going about their business in Libya...
So you've heard from Chopper too? I think his name may have caused some of the confusion about the team's means of delivery. This has been a classic diversionary tactic by STC black ops under deep, 'Hi-Tog' rated cover. Seems to be working well so far. Nuff said.

Boink sent me this photo of C squadron STC just before they boarded to get stuck into the Libyans and bail out the SAS yesterday:

Thanks MLP. I'd heard suggestions it was a multi-national op. Nice to see the Mk7* Mod 3 has been issued at last. The previous version leaked like a sieve, jammed on auto and caused allergies.

It's difficult to tell without seeing their rigs but did they go HALO, Lo-Hi-Lo, Hel-Lo or just La-La-La?

Yeah, he sent me a text message last night:

Will get the bloke from my local kebab shop to translate it for me, but judging by the "LOL" at the end, I assume the mission is going as planned so far...

I hear the Australians are looking for "A few good men", a chance of international travel for STC's who may frolic in the Pacific or Indian Oceans. Perhaps they could gain passage in the "Largs Bay" if she gets picked by the RAN as the RN goes into a downward spiral.

The STC branch has a long and proud history in the RAN with shouts of "come in spinner" being heard whenever they muster for OPS.

LOL may have been the codeword assigned that day to verify that the message wasn't sent under duress... or did it mean the message was sent under duress? My fieldcraft is a bit rusty these days and STC has always done things differently from everyone else.
