Specialising in warfare...

Welcome to the Navy Net aka Rum Ration

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. I am applying for warfare in the hope that I'll be able to specialise as an HMO one day (I know that there are no guarantees etc, but would be nice if I can at some point). But have read somewhere that everyone who is currently doing that job wears sandals and socks, etc etc...(can imagine the sort from my uni days!). Just wondering, is it the sort of job that is really hard to get into cos these guys keep it for 20 odd years? It's not going to affect my application in any way but would like to prepare myself if it's not going to happen. Would be good to hear from anyone who works as or with these guys, thanks! :)
  2. I would like to help.

However I don't know what an HMO is.

  3. I can answer that , HMO Homo Mongy Orangutang, good luck occifer inland
  4. Grr. Anyway, what happened to calling me Ma'am hey Chris??

HMO is Hydrographic, Meteorological and Oceanographic.

You've dragged up and old post haven't you?!?
  5. :D A member of my family was an officer on the Hecla, best draft he ever had,Ma`am
ps i am sure you know what the Hecla was if your interested in Hydrographic, Meteorological and Oceanographic.

You pair need to get a room.
  7. Concur. Was NC calling her Ma'am instead of the "Madam" :D
  8. Yeah I know Hecla, I was more looking at HMS Endurance though.

And witsend...a room indeed!! I'm in a room right now thanks!!
  9. From my limited experience  i think both the Endurance and Hecla would be a rather different kind of draft than the normal,ie Hecla used to go to some pretty distant out of the way places where your everyday GS ships could only dream of going,Endurance was ok if you like the ice and cold wind swept places,
  10. I rather think witsend was implying Nchris should be in it with you...

Yeah I did drag it up, but it's saturday and I was bored, and thought that it would get some amusing offerings as to what 'HMO' means. Fail, methinks.
  11. I still go with the " Homo Mongy Orangutang"
  12. lol

I'll see your 'homo mongy orangutang' and raise you 'hormonal male officer'

    it happens....
  13. :D I remember a game of poker once in Thailand and yes the bar girls were the stakes :D
