Welcome to the Navy Net aka Rum Ration

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial RN website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. A great read, link below about a real character, Norman lived at the end of my road and I remember the incident very well when at 82 years of age he fought of two muggers.

If interested his biobraphy Sole Survivor is now available

I check out this forum from time to time, have never posted but felt compelled to pass on the above links.
  2. Thank you for an excellent link to an amazing story Gunge.
Another larger than life character has "crossed the bar".
    RIP Norman.

  3. This guy definitely had the stuff that legends are made of.

After surviving the sinking of the NEPTUNE in '41, being a POW, released and back into active service from '43 and then onto the Russian Convoys you could argue that he had done enough. But then to re-enter the service for another five years and serve throughout Korea - well, they sure don't make them like that anymore.

He certainly deserved his long life.

  4. The dit about swimming ashore from the submarine amazed me. A great read.
  5. Norman? o_O
