Simple sailor, any other kind?

Welcome to the Navy Net aka Rum Ration

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial RN website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  2. Lets face it he has now taken Gordon's shilling, he must keep to the party line or loose his nice job.
  3. "About turn". "Quick march"

    Ah, the Power of Command.

  4. I don't think the Simple Sailor as Banjo chooses to call himself are on the same wedge.
  5. To be honest, he was always going to find it difficult to give an independent view since, technically, he is still serving RN and has to follow orders from the Government.

He surrendered quicker than a boarding party.
  7. Bet he got to keep his iPod though.

Or is it his peerage he's concerned about??
  8. Better to be a simple but down-to-earth sailor than a sophisticated head-in-the-clouds type!
  9. It would appear that Banjo and Mrs Smith are not singing from the same hymn sheet were extended periods of detention for terror suspects is concerned.

As for the simple sailor a man in his lofty position should have learnt by now to engage brain before mouth.
  10. West is a fool, after been lent on by Broon the cloown he would had far more respect from the subjects of this country if he had refused Broons request to say what he tells him, I imagine the conversation was over very quickly. Broon "You say what I tell you too, pronto, or you dont get the carriers, savvy." The only way,IMHO, that he can retrieve his damaged credebility is to explain in person the reason why he changed his views so rapidly. What this man is insinuating by calling himself simple is that everyone in the navy of lesser rank is more simple than him, otherwise they would have his job, right? With West being part of this countys old boy network one would have thought he had the sense to put his brain in gear before opening his mouth.
  11. Hope you don't mind me pointing this out HC but I am a citizen not a fekin subject but you can be a subject if you like.
  12. Call yourself what you like finky, but as we live in a monarchy and not a republic you are a subject of Her Majesty
  13. The Government appointed Alan West as one of the four GOATS (Government Of All Talents), the idea being that they would benefit the country with their specialist knowledge/experience and perhaps restore some public faith in the political process. Having made such a public and humiliating U-turn in the space of less than one hour, West simply reinforces what we already know about the political process and this government in particular. So, as Nick Robinson pointed out on the Today programme this morning, 'When Goats become sheep, what's the point in having them?'
  14. I think Westie is being either very clever or very stupid. I would like to believe it's the former and it's a Star round to illuminate a deceitful Government. I doubt your average ballot box fodder would notice, though.
  15. Forelock tugging subject my arse, the duly elected government rules over your life not the windsors, if you have one check out what it states on your passport.
  16. In mine it says,

"Her Britannic Majesty's Secretary of State, requests and requires,
in the name of Her Majesty, all those whom it may concern to allow the bearer to pass freely without let or hinderance, and to afford the bearer such assistance and protection as may be necessary."

Why dont you ask Westie, I asume hes a personal friend of yours? Deceitful is far to kind, lying crooks seems more appropriate and we dont need Westie to illuminate what we already know.
  18. And what duly elected government is that one then? The only people who elected our present leaders where themselves, and I ain't talking about the Windsors, either! They funnily enough were elected, by our forefathers, who we support by not 'un-electing' them! Unlike the the other foreigners who presently run this country!!!

  20. Blobs I'm a Jock living in England but mate I'm with you, why should my nephews and neices get a better start in life than my boy just because he was born in Somerset. And what I mean is free Univerity places for the sweaties and not for the poor english. And that does read right "The poor English" In my humble opinion the most oppressed nation in the world.
I am Scottish born and proud but I live in England and am equally proud of my adopted country.
