Welcome to the Navy Net aka Rum Ration

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial RN website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. HI, I'm a newbie, and currently considering my trade options.
They are somewhat pushing me to go for subs rather than skim jobs.
Can anyone advise on the pro's and cons of both, or should I just say "bollocks" and join the bootnecks?.

  2. Welcome PJM.

It all depends on what you want out of life. If you’ve got something specific in mind, then hold out for it. There’s no point joining up to do a job you’ve got no interest in.
  3. If you go skimmer you can always opt to go subs................

But if you join as a submariner, you can't to skimmer

that may help, i've done both and enjoyed them both..........

but you have more chance of seeing the world as a skimmer
PJM has created numerous threads re Subs, Clearance diving and the Royal Marines he may just be young and confused or?...
