Shin Splints

I have been diagnosed with Shin Splints. I don't start till next year but I am obviously worried incase my fitness isn't upto scratch. I would be interested in any opinions about shin splints and any remodies?

RICE Rest Immobolise Cold Compression Elevate the limb.

Do you supinate or pronate a good athletic shop will tell you this I used sorbothane inners many moons ago, alternate your running surfaces. The Doc will be along soon to give his advice and Tommo if I recall had a touch of shin splints.

I did have a touch of shin splints you are correct BP. But they soon disappeared once I got correct shoes for running for my gait.

Otherwise as BP has said, R.I.C.E them, also slowly build your training up (Don't do too much too soon). You can run through shin splints be it a little uncomfortable but it's possible. But go see your nearest running specialist.

Rest, elevate the limb(s)
Anti-inflammatories
Go to a proper running shop, have your gait analysed and get some decent running shoes. Very worthwhile investment.
