  4. I did the same trip a few years ago. The guide told us of his exploits with the Soviet Navy, and how they fooled Nato forces when transitting the Bosphorus. When I said that some places in the waterway were to shallow for boats to transit underwater, he started to waffle! When I asked him about the annual changeover of the Northern Fleet and the Black Sea Fleet and their anchorages at Mers el Kabir (Algeria) and Kithera (Greece), and the fact that Nato flew Maritime patrols from Cyprus, Malta and Gib, and we knew where they were nearly all the time, he went awfully quiet and handed the group over to another guide.
     
  5. Reminds me of the ex-U boat and then French submarine base at Lorient, that's worth a look round.
     
  6. I was gonna say can full size submarines really get through those waterways? Anby full size I mean anything above a midget?
