Senior RAN Pilot As Top Gun Extra

War Hero
Interesting to read what goes on in the back ground in the production of a major film,

No different to the first film. There were quite a few near crashes in the original!!
We had a Yank two and a half who was embarked for the on board filming on exchange when I was on 819. He had some good dits!!!
We had a USN exchange Pilot on 899, he was known as Lucky as there was a number of thing you didn't want to happen on F-14's and they had all happened to him....

He went home halfway through SHAR training as hovering into the woods at Wittering put the fear of god into him... He used to come into the line as white as a sheet.
