Selling ourselves short

Welcome to the Navy Net aka Rum Ration

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial RN website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Why does the RN website seem to describe every deployment East of Suez as counter piracy? Instead of informing the public/media why we need properly equipped ships and worked up crews, everything seems to be dumbed down. The opportunity to explain the roles of proper warships, not only in the event of possible crises, but during ongoing things such as supporting operations against ISIL seems to be missed.

    Why?

  2. Because we don't have the PR machine of the RAF!!!

  3. Well, if you go to KENT's page on the main RN webpage, the top news story is about them joining the ISIL fight. And her overall task is described as Maritime Security, Counter-narcotics and Counter-piracy.

  4. True - but I was thinking of the way DAUNTLESS's deployment was described.
