seeing the RNR doctor

Welcome to the Navy Net aka Rum Ration

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial RN website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Hi everyone,

Does anyone know how I can get hold of one of the medical staff on board outside of training hours? And is there any kind of health care available to us through the RNR?

    Thanks,

    Ever heard of the NHS?

There are no doctors onboard outside of drill nights, and if you have a problem then you should see your normal doctor.

  3. Unless you have an issue caused by or during mobilisation. That could be another matter.

  5. There isn't any healthcare provision available unless you're deployed, or you have illness/injury following deployment. You would have to use the NHS.

Bear in mind that the medical personnel are reservists too - while I occasionally find myself trying to sort out the odd problem outside of drill nights (in view of having to phone other people in normal working hours), the RN is not my employer. If anyone made contact with me outside of a drill night I would ask them to see me when I'm next in; also I would need to request their FMed4, whcih takes time as these are held centrally.
