Seeing as there is no Wardroom Forum.... (Amend 1)

I see Midshipman are now considered Commissioned Officers according to the latest DIN and will get their parchment.

My favourite Midshipman moment was in the Caribbean - involved Rum, White Tropical Uniforms, some US ladies off a cruise liner who were much older than me and .... well a gentleman never tells (unless on a dit session).

Also, without doing the ARRSE is better thing, they do have forums for Officers, Seniors and Juniors. Could we consider that for Rum Ration. Wardroom, Senior Rates and Junior Rates. Allow people to post topics that are pan RN/RM but more rate/rank specific.

Everyone is welcome to read/post in each but it does allow threads to be more targeted.

Just a thought, what do people think.

Good idea Guns - and I never NEVER thought I'd ever say that!
It could be called Bunhouse Banter or Wardroom Rib Ticklers.
I'm in.

Re: Seeing as their is no Wardroom Forum....

Not so sure myself - you risk splitting the forum and recreating some sort of them and us feeling.

Anyway, you can not stop ocifers replying to Senior Rate threads or JRs joining in the ocifers thread and telling us what a bunch of barstewards we are/were and I reckon it would just get nasty.

As an ex-wardoom member I am happy with things the way they are - a bit of banter is fine and anything personal is worked out anyway. There are Officers on line here and they have every opportunity to have their say.

If you want to start a solely wardroom forum/site think about the numbers. Maybe there is one anyway but I do not know of it.

We will. But you appear to have split more infinitives than fora.

If you start a Wardroom site I will certainly check it out.

Now please put me out of my misery - where have I split any infinitive and explain what "fora" actually means.

Can I start? Surely the post title should be "Seeing as THERE is no Wardroom Forum...", but then what would I know, I'm just a lowly Chief and never had the benefit of an University education.

Sorry, couldn't resist. Seriously though, there's no reason why not to have forums for officers/SR's/JR's as ARRSE does, but ARRSE has a lot more members probably making it more worthwhile.

Re: Seeing as their is no Wardroom Forum....

As an ex SD officer, I reckon I am free to post just about where I like, ex serving officer, senior rate or junior rate; I've been them all and can speak with authority about what the RN was like. Nowadays, I don't have a clue, so I steer clear mostly. Sorry if I have I split any infinitives.

I'm also a former SD Officer, but find I suffer more from split ends than infinitives, actually that's not true as I have very little hair left at all.

A gold star to Pompeyexpaat for picking up the deliberate mistake!

Of course I saw it as well, but let it go because I had a more important point to make, in a forum we should forget our English and we should not pick a fight late at night (Singapore time).

Sooooo - a case of "Thank you Chief" yet again I feel.

(Ex Wardroom, likes a drink in the SR Mess, needs help and is not afraid to ask for it.)

Always a pleasure to help out any officer by pointing out his mistakes to him, in front of others preferably. Mustn't let them forget who's really in charge. (Except the WEO and Capt obviously, one does have ones write-up to think of.)

Re: Seeing as their is no Wardroom Forum....

If you can get the WEO out of his pit you can try and impresive him as much as you want!

I still know my place in the pecking order!!

To actually explain would be time wasting. Forum standing in the same same twice would be fora

Would one be required to partake of Pimms whilst posting in the Wardroom?

What a wizard wheeze. Why not introduce some snobbery into the forums just like ARRSE? Maybe they could be named with such gems as the Piggery, the Rats and the Amoeba's? We could even discuss subjects such as "Dapper clothing for gentlemen", "Viagra for the older man" and "How to beat the rap". I trust any damned ratings will be required to address all posts in the Piggery to Sir? :thumright:

Yours tongue in cheek
