  4. What with pay as you starve in operation :p

  5. Seaman Specialists are assigned to the Sockbay to take care of matelots special needs!

Food is optional, pay is compulsory.... but things may change.

  8. Thanks Slim I really just want to hear people's opinions on this position from people who have either worked as an SS or have friends that are in the navy as an SS.

  9. Hi Pernod,

Firstly when at sea one of your main duties is to work on the bridge steering the ship and helping the officer of the watch as a lookout. You will also deal with any visual signalling with other navy ships around you. When not on watch you will be involved in doing all types of seamanship duties ie looking after the life rafts, driving the fast boats, taking charge of seamanship evolutions (Anchoring, replenishements etc). You will also get involved in general ship evolutions fire-fighting, damage control. There will be cleaning duties the same as everyone. When alongside you normally cover the gangway watches doing armed sentries etc. You will also do a lot of the maintenence of seamanship equipment when alongside.

    Hope this helps

    SM
